What size pot should I repot into?Updated 3 months ago

Don’t go too big, too soon - this can make it way too easy to drown your plant. Move up one size at a time; while plants are still quite small, the difference will be small, too - a good guideline is picking a pot size where you can just about fit your fingers between the old and new pot if you put one inside the other. When the plant is bigger, so when the pot is more than about 20cm in diameter, the difference will also be bigger, but still make sure you aren’t going up by more than about 5cm in diameter each time.

When you repot, it’s also a good idea to check the size of the roots on your plant. If they are smaller than the pot, they may have been damaged, or have rotten, in which case it may be better to go down a size. If you think this may have happened to your plant but aren’t sure what to do, feel free to send us a photo and we’ll do our best to advise - or, if you’re local to us, you can bring the plant in for use to repot with our Repotting service.
