I just received my plant in transit and…Updated 3 months ago
It’s a trailing plant and some leaves fell off as I was unwrapping - will it be okay?
Yes, your plant should recover - make sure to give it a water as it may be thirsty if it’s dropping leaves after being in transit! You probably won’t get leaves growing from the same points as the ones that have fallen off, but your plant absolutely should be able to grow more once it’s settled in its new home with you.
There’s a tear in the leaf from transit/unpacking - will it recover?
Plants don’t heal like we do - if there’s a rip in the leaf, that rip won’t heal. Plants are resilient, though, and they can still get energy from a ripped leaf - so try not to prune it off immediately! New leaves will grow through healthy, but it may still need the ripped leaf to get the right level of energy from the light hitting it.
It has dropped flowers/fruit in the post, will they grow back?
If a plant has lost flowers in the post, it’s likely they’ll grow back with most species - not necessarily from the same point, but most plants respond to flower loss by putting out more flowers. Some houseplants don’t flower very often at all, though, so this doesn’t go for every plant - for example, a Bromeliad won’t grow another flower once it has done one, while a Flamingo Flower will flower pretty much continuously year-round if it has enough light and energy.
Fruit is more difficult as it takes a bit longer for most plants to produce fruit and they have to flower first. Some might be able to start flowering and then fruiting straight away, but most will need to wait a year or so to produce entirely new fruit.
