When we’re picking a soil, our first port of call is Soil Ninja’s Plant Index. They’ve never led us wrong with a recommendation yet! If you just want to go for something more generic, they also offer a standard houseplant soil which works well for most houseplants - though we would recommend the cactus and succulent soil for your cacti or succulents. 

While you don’t need to always get the most specific soil, having the best match for your plant will make it easier to care for.
